Native Spirit Film Festival is looking for pre-selectors to review submissions by international Indigenous filmmakers.
About the role
Native Spirit festival promotes Indigenous-produced Cinema Media & Arts, and Indigenous languages with annual film festivals and year-round events in Britain (October/November), Taiwan (December), and an associated programme in Buffalo NY (September).
Pre-selectors will watch and rate private screeners via Native Spirit FilmFreeway platform: specifically, leave a star rating, write comment, and click on recommendation to screen, maybe, or not. Speakers of other, or Indigenous languages, including: Welsh, Irish, Scottish, Manx, are likely to relate to revitalisation of languages impacted by Colonisation and discussed in many films.
Ratings by pre-selectors will be used when making final selections. All types of cinematic styles invited with following durations: microIndigenous (up to 5min); Shorts (5-30min); Features (30-90min). The majority of submissions are shorts.
You will be listed as pre-selector on our FilmFreeway page, offered a pass to any ticketed events or online festival. Future options to join our festival team.
The festival is a project of Native Spirit Foundation, founded in 2005 by a Mapuche activist filmmaker and leader, with one objective being to create video, radio and television “for the other culture to know us without losing our identities.”
Hours: One hour per week (minimum commitment 7 hours)
Terms: Voluntary. The deadline for watching films is 21 May.
