The BFI are looking for a Head of Lottery Skills Programmes.
In the BFI’s new ten-year strategy ‘Screen Culture 2033’, we have committed to supporting the development of a skilled and sustainable workforce that reflects the UK population.
A key element of delivering on this ambition is through our National Lottery funding and we are seeking a Head of Lottery Skills Programmes to deliver the BFI’s funding for skills, working closely with partners across the UK.
The Head of Lottery Skills Programmes will lead the implementation and management of both the BFI National Lottery Skills Clusters Fund and the BFI National Lottery Skills Fund, as well as the development and design of future BFI National Lottery funded skills programmes. The individual will be responsible for ensuring the funds deliver on key objectives including the development of equitable routes into the sector and ensuring people from under-represented groups across the UK can access the support they need to develop their careers and skills.
As identified in the BFI Skills Review for Film & HETV, National Lottery ‘good cause’ funding has a distinct role to play in addressing the skills challenges being faced by the film and HETV production sector. The Head of Lottery Skills Programmes will be instrumental in ensuring National Lottery funded activity is aligned to, and where appropriate, helps deliver against the recommendations in the BFI Skills Review.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead on strategy development for the effective delivery of National Lottery funded skills programmes to maximise their impact across the UK.
- Lead on designing a regular activity programme to ensure the successful Screen Clusters and related key stakeholders are able to transfer knowledge, share best practice and ensure a joined-up approach to delivering key screen sector skills interventions.
- Work with the research and statistics unit on the development and delivery of a programme of research that can help provide insights into skills and training challenges and support industry stakeholders.
- Work with wider BFI teams to ensure a joined-up approach to skills development and new entrant pathways across National Lottery programmes.
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Significant high-level experience in screen sector preferably working in a multiple stakeholder environment to deliver on skills and training programmes.
- Highly developed advocacy and influencing skills.
- Extensive understanding and experience of skills and training landscape in the screen sector.
- Proven track record in building and maintaining effective partnerships in the film and TV sector.
- Significant experience and knowledge of programme management within the screen sector or third sector.
- Significant experience of team leadership, recruitment and development.
