Short Film Submission Viewers

Glasgow Short Film Festival

Glasgow

Salary: Minimum fixed fee of £1,320

Glasgow Short Film Festival is looking for short film submission viewers to be part of our GSFF21 pre-selection team.

GSFF accepts all genres and styles, so viewers will watch a mix of fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental work submitted to us from across the world. Selected films will be programmed in our Scottish and international competitions.

Viewers are required to watch a minimum of 600 short films between September and November 2020, meeting a monthly target of 200 viewings. Viewers will be paid £2.20 per film. Films submitted to us are on average 15 minutes in duration.

Viewers will be expected to critically engage with and evaluate films through submitting their rating and concise comments. Where possible, viewers are encouraged to attend regular meetings (one weekend afternoon per month) and two full viewing days in December, during which we watch and discuss works together. These meetings will take place in Glasgow.

This role is intended for those with proven ambitions in film programming and a particular interest in short film. While candidates can be based across the UK, we will give preference to those within Scotland and those who can attend the monthly meetings.

We will organise an introductory Zoom meeting for successful candidates, and provide access to previously screened works to allow familiarisation with the festival’s programming sensibilities.

To apply, please send your CV to vacancies@glasgowshort.org. Please also provide a list of three short films you have recently enjoyed, and a short piece of critical writing (150-200 words) on one of these films.

GSFF is committed to improving accessibility and equal opportunities in our industries. Therefore we particularly encourage applications from candidates from communities and identities currently underrepresented in film programming.

The 14th edition of Glasgow Short Film Festival will take place from 24 – 28 March 2021.

GSFF is the largest competitive short film festival in Scotland, championing new film talent by providing an annual showcase and meeting point for new and established Scottish and international filmmakers, industry delegates and the local audience. Our programme celebrates diverse forms of cinematic expression, and foregrounds disruptive, groundbreaking work that transgresses the boundaries of conventional narrative film.

GSFF is an independent Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), charity number SC049556.
