Your festival website

Your festival website can be simply designed as long as it has all the information that your audience and the press needs. In fact, it’s better to have a very basic website without all the bells and whistles – as long as it is easy to navigate and it’s clear where to find all the information. It’s imperative to have this year’s festival dates prominently on your homepage. It’s great to have your programme or catalogue or schedule as an easily downloadable pdf.

Also it’s ideal to have an area for press downloads – press releases, etc. And of course an area on your website for photos – these can be film stills as well as festival images – nice headshots or portraits of key festival staff and also some good images that illustrate your festival. That can be crowds at your key venues, showing your enthusiastic audience, some images of last year’s red carpet, it’s great to have a few iconic images of your festival that look a bit timeless (i.e. they won’t have a huge banner with a certain year on it).
