Special Collections Manager

Salary: £37,374 - £44,163
The BFI is seeking a Special Collections Manager to join the BFI National Archive Curatorial Team on a fixed term basis until September 2021. This is a temporary role designed to support Special Collections operations while a senior member of the team is on sabbatical.
Key Responsibilities
- To have oversight of the ongoing preservation, digitisation and cataloguing of BFI Special Collections (both analogue and digital), supporting the work of the Special Collections Archivists and ensuring that BFI standards are met.
- To have oversight for the various documentation and reporting processes for Special Collections.
- To support the Senior Curator in the review of Special Collections policy, standards and operations.
About You
- Education to degree level or equivalent experience.
- Significant professional archival or collections-based expertise within a museum, gallery, archive or library setting.
- Significant professional experience of people management, with a proven ability to motivate, lead and develop staff.
- A demonstrable interest in one or more subject areas relevant to Special Collections (archives, photography, graphic arts/design) and an enthusiasm for a wide range of historic and contemporary British film and TV.
The role is predominantly based at Berkhamsted, however, in response to the current Covid-19 pandemic all team members are currently working remotely from home until the foreseeable future.
