Social Media Manager (Volunteer)

Salary: Volunteer - Reasonable travel and food expenses covered for any in-person attendance (including the festival weekend)

PRIFF UK is seeking a Volunteer Social Media Manager

PRIFF UK is an independent film festival, set up to uplift indie voices, made up of a small, volunteer-supported team.

They are looking for a volunteer Social Media Manager to help plan and deliver a social media presence in the run-up to and during the festival. You’ll work with the team to shape what is posted, come up with content ideas, and keep the channels active and engaging – especially across the festival weekend itself, when there’s plenty happening to capture and share in real time.

This is a great opportunity for someone who loves film and wants hands-on experience running social media for a live event, working closely with a small festival team.

Fixed-term voluntary role: 1 September to 30 November 2026

Key Responsibilities:

• Help plan a content calendar for the festival’s social channels from September through the festival weekend
• Come up with ideas for posts — announcements, behind-the-scenes content, guest/panel spotlights, countdowns, and audience engagement content
• Schedule and queue posts using Buffer (or a similar scheduling tool)
• Generate and capture content ideas live over the festival weekend (photos, short clips, Stories, audience reactions)
• Monitor comments and messages across channels and flag anything that needs a response
• Work with the wider festival team to make sure posts reflect confirmed guests, times and programme details accurately
• Help pull together a short wrap-up/highlights post after the festival

Requirements:

• A genuine passion for film and independent cinema
• Enjoys creating and planning social content (Instagram/TikTok primarily)
• Organised, reliable, and comfortable working to a content schedule
• Good written communication skills
• Able to commit to being present (in person or remotely on-call) across the festival weekend

Desirable:

• Experience using Buffer or a similar scheduling tool (Later, Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, etc.)
• An eye for photography/short-form video, or experience editing content for Reels/TikTok
• Previous experience volunteering at a festival or live event
