Dublin International Film Festival is seeking a Short Film Programmer for the 2021 festival, which will take place 3 March to 14 March.
Taking place 3 – 14 March 2021, the Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival is Ireland’s premier film festival event. The Festival curates and presents the best in emerging international and Irish film for a wide audience through its annual festival. In 2021, the Festival will present a hybrid festival with films screened in cinemas, outdoors and online.

Job Description
DIFF is seeking a Short Film Programmer for the 2021 festival, which will take place 3 – 14 March. The Short Film Programmer will help to conceive, develop, and implement the artistic and programmatic focus of short films in consultation with the Festival Director and Managing Director.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Secure and organize short films for the Dublin International Film Festival
- Develop criteria for film selection and create an online survey for pre-screeners to evaluate films
- Organize database of filmmakers who have submitted films
- Establish selection timeline and track programming budget
- Develop and maintain relationships with key short film community professionals, in Dublin and throughout the world
- Notify declined film submissions through the FilmFreeway internal email system
- Confirm and collate all materials, images and text relating to the short programme for festival promotional purposes
- Host post screening Q+A with filmmakers
- At times, offer content for DIFF blog, social media, and website
Essential skills & experience:
- Able to work independently, efficiently and under deadline pressure
- Excellent oral and written communications skills. Detail-oriented, organized, motivated
- Experience as a Film Festival Programmer or Assistant/Associate Programmer
- Familiar with film and video formats and film production required
