Open City Documentary Festival is seeking a full-time Short Course Programming and Engagement Officer to program and lead the Open City Docs School short courses.

The Centre for Public Anthropology is home to several projects in the world of documentary and aims to  nurture the next generation of filmmakers, audio producers and VR filmmakers through postgraduate degree programmes, an annual film festival, the bi-annual Non-Fiction journal and other events throughout the year. The centre is based in the UCL Anthropology department, a research-led department with an international reputation, offering innovative teaching programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

We are seeking a full-time Short Course Programming and Engagement Officer to program and lead the Open City Docs School short courses and support the growth of the centre through public engagement and widening participation events. The post holder will work closely with a wide-ranging group of filmmakers, producers, editors, technicians and curators from all aspects of the documentary filmmaking industry.

The postholder must be familiar with the world of documentary filmmaking, and passionate about promoting awareness of and engagement with the industry. They must be a self-starter with proven ability to use initiative to complete tasks, and able to build and maintain relationships with both industry professionals and academics.

This is a full-time, open-ended post.

Key requirements

The post holder will have knowledge of current film, television and creative media industries and trends, as well as experience of working to budgets. They will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to identify new areas of activity.

The ideal candidate is expected to provide high standards of customer service, with a helpful and proactive attitude. They will also be able to work under pressure prioritising competing workloads while working to tight deadlines.
