Birds’ Eye View is seeking to contract regional freelance Impact Producers to work with them on their mission to champion films by women & non-binary people.

The appointed individual will creatively input and effectively deliver local outreach activity and events in select cities as part of our Reclaim the Frame project. You will be passionate about community building and about using communications to further the conversations presented by the films we support.

We are looking to appoint one Impact Producer in each of the following areas:

  • Leeds or Sheffield
  • Manchester (with links to Liverpool / Chester )
  • Plymouth or Exeter
  • Glasgow or Edinburgh
  • Brighton
The Role
  • Contract: Freelance, fixed term
  • Days: 2-3 days per month, worked flexibly throughout the month
  • Tenure: 9-month contract, June 2022-March 2023

Location/Areas to be covered/Locations:

  1. Exeter & Plymouth
  2. Glasgow & Edinburgh
  3. Sheffield & Leeds
  4. Manchester (with links to Liverpool & Chester)
  5. Brighton (providing ad-hoc support for London as needed)

Fee: £150 per day, up to £450 per month

Responsibilities
  • Feeding in to team discussions around Reclaim the Frame titles, framing and approaches
  • Where appropriate, research potential panellists/guests and prepare questions/topics for discussions
  • Act as Community Leader for Advocates in your respective cities – encourage interaction and conversation between the local RtF chapter
  • Lead on effective outreach marketing and promotion for all RtF activity and events
  • Support with regional events, liaising with the cinema partner on event production and logistics
  • Host events as requested, either providing introductions and/or facilitating Q&As
  • Ensure survey work takes place at all RtF events and screenings
  • Provide event and outreach reporting for all RtF activity you undertake
Person Specification
  • A keen passion for film and its potential to make change
  • An established regional network
  • Capacity to be flexible with commitments including evening work and weekend work
  • Passion for inclusion and access
  • Experience in writing copy
  • Initiative to work under your own steam
  • Commitment to participate in Birds Eye View curatorial/communications catch ups

We understand that you may not have strong experience in all these areas but would nevertheless urge you to apply if you believe you have capability and interest in rapidly building those missing skills to deliver on this role. We are seeking someone with experience around film and/or cultural activism, who can bring their unique perspective to the work of the charity.
