EIFF is looking for a Publications Coordinator to work within the Marketing team and contribute to engaging audiences with everything in store at the 2025 Festival.

This will include promoting the vision of the Festival, driving ticket sales and participation, enhancing the reputation of the Festival as well as archiving the Festival, gathering materials for promotional or historical use.

Working closely with the Programme Planning team, Marketing Manager, Marketing Coordinator and Designer, the Publications Coordinator ensures that all film-related content is sourced from filmmakers and distributors ready for the variety of Marketing requirements, including images and video trailers (and film promotional material).

This role is key to the production of the Festival communications material, the brochure and the website. The Publications Coordinator also ensures that all copy for the EIFF brochure and website meets high standards of readability, clarity and consistency of usage and is ready to go live by EIFF deadlines.

Role details
Role responsibilities
  • Source all the necessary film information to be listed in the brochure and website from relevant filmmakers and film distributors;
  • Source clips for the Festival preview reel and liaise with the preview reel editor;
  • Collate the film information and input all collated information into the Festival database ready to be exported at the final stages of the production of the brochure and website;
  • Distribute certain information and content to external parties as necessary to support the marketing of the film programme;
  • Liaise with other EIFF departments when required;
  • Coordinate the supply of the Programmers’ copy for editing as well as the receipt of the revised copy for inputting into the main EIFF database in advance of exports;
  • Generate supplemental copy, as required;
  • Report to the Marketing Manager on secured content and advise on issues with completing the full line up of required film content;
  • Advise on the establishment of house style rules and ensure that all who work on publication adhere to house style;
  • Check film credits;
  • Check screening times of films with the Programme Planning team;
  • Liaise with Marketing Manager on pagination and the ad sales process;
  • Remain flexible and respond to changing list of priorities as requested by the Marketing Manager;
  • Manage and coordinate the proofing process. Additional proofreaders are available, including the Programme Planning team and the Marketing team.

Some further general activity may be required.

Person specifications

Essential:

  • At least 1 years’ experience of editing/producing publications
  • At least 1 years experience managing projects
  • Excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Precise, accurate and consistent editing skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent proofreading skills
  • Excellent English language, both verbal and written including proofreading skills
  • Excellent IT skills, including email and databases
  • Ability to be flexible and respond to changing priorities
  • Ability to function well under pressure
  • Ability to work constructively in a team and to work independently
  • Proven record of working successfully to deadline
  • Has the right to work in the United Kingdom or be able to obtain as such

Desirable:

  • Demonstrable understanding of and passion for film, ideally with some level of experience of working within cinema, film festival or wider film industry
