Olympic Studios are looking for a motivated, and experienced Projectionist to join their cinema team, delivering a high-quality presentation of up to 25 features per week.
Location: Olympic Cinema, Barnes SW13
Contract: 3 days per week
Reporting to: Technical Director/Cinema Manager

What will you be doing day to day?
Features projection – Be responsible for arranging the weekly schedule of features projection at Olympic Cinema
- Liaise with cinema team regarding ingesting DCPs (physical drive
deliveries), keeping the deliveries book up to date - Manage content delivered via LANsat (check it’s been booked
with the Film Programmer) - Manage KDMs (what is needed, duration, correct format, etc.),
chase KDMs if not received by midday Friday for the coming
week - Do the weekly show building and check features for ratios,
volume & credit offset - Be responsible for sourcing trailers and have monthly meetings
with cinema management and film booker regarding upcoming
slate and which trailers to push - Ensure trailers are presented in the correct ratio and in an
appropriate order - Be responsible for projection library management (across LANsat,
TMS and projector servers) agree how long to store content for
and keep an eye on storage space - Curate and update walk-in music playlists for auditoriums (nonsync)
Special projection – Live events (NT Live, concerts, etc.) be the main
point of contact for booking these (consult calendar with Film
Programmer & Events Manager)
- Arrange days worked to cover live ‘event cinema’ broadcasts
(where possible) - Operate test tuning (or delegate for cinema management
where required) - Operate Q&As, stage load, mix microphones, operate lights and
ensure a recording is made - Give any specifications to potential clients for private hires
(projector info/ratios/resolutions) - Convert client content into DCP and test/create shows with it
Training – take a lead in delivering projection training to all cinema
staff. All staff should know how to do the following:
- Ingest a DCP
- Check a KDM
- Operate a Blu-ray playback
- Understand and check the projection timeline on the TMS (this
should be done daily) - Operate house lights and curtains
- Restart from a fire alarm
Hardware maintenance/breakdowns – Work with cinema
management to keep equipment maintained
- Be responsible for managing the inventory of technical
equipment (cabling, microphones, receivers, mixers/desks,
lighting fixtures) - Provide feedback to management on work of engineers and
partners (make suggestions to keep the cinema up to date) - Report any breakdown/maintenance issues to management in a
timely fashion to book in engineers
What do you need to bring with you?
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in AV support/film presentation
- Previous experience using Rosetta advantageous
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
- Confident communication skills, and experience working with external
clients - You must have good knowledge on health and safety
- Working as a team player at all times
- Attention to detail
- The ability to attend and undertake all required training
- A genuine passion for film
