The BFI is looking for two Project Archivists to join their Curatorial team.

Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2022

These posts will work with collections that highlight women working behind the scenes in filmmaking, with a specific focus on the key role of the Script Supervisor. This work supports a longer term objective to increase the representation of women filmmakers within the catalogue.

The collections mainly consist of continuity scripts, continuity photographs and some papers.

Key responsibilities
  • To sort and re-house the archive, carrying out basic preservation work as required.
  • To catalogue the archives to ISAD(G) standards using Adlib collections management software.
  • To carry out research into the work of script supervisors and to support the cataloguing of the collections and the creation of metadata.
Skills & Experience
  • Experience of appraising and cataloguing document archival collections within a professional archive environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of using automated archive systems or information databases.
  • Familiarity with current international standards of archival description and knowledge of data protection principles and their practical application.

We operate a hybrid working model at the BFI. This role requires regular work at our hub in Berkhamsted.
