The BFI is looking for an Operations Manager to join the BFI’s Operations, Partners & Projects (OPPS) team on a 12-month maternity leave cover.

Crucial to the overall effectiveness of the BFI’s funding operations, funded partners and funding strategy, the OPPs team are responsible for the operational capabilities of National Lottery and GiA funding and for wider operational frameworks and governance for departments making funding awards. This includes project management; partner relationships; funding application processes and accessibility; producing consistent guidelines and application forms that reflect the current funding landscape; monitoring and analysing the outcomes of funded activity (including diversity) against targets; and providing first class partner and applicant support for Lottery and other funding awards.

Role responsibilities
  • System Owner and lead Administrator of the BFI’s grant-management system Blackbaud Grantmaking, ensuring the BFI’s needs are met by the database and all relevant staff are fully trained to use it.
  • To take responsibility for the build of a new database and migrating users and data from the current active database.
  • Identity and deliver improvements to the grant management database and online application process, to ensure the best experience for BFI fund applicants and optimum use of the system by BFI colleagues.
  • Manage and implement best practice data collection across BFI funded activity, through use of the grant management database and other means
  • Generate funding awards statistics for publication, in liaison with the Communications team.
  • Responsible for the line management of the Operations Administrator.
Person specifications
  • Demonstrable experience of Blackbaud Grant Management system builds and administration.
  • Experience of training others in the use of Blackbaud Grant Management.
  • Experience of Power BI.
  • Proven ability to devise and deliver training and change working practices in colleagues on systems and processes.
  • Confidence in proposing and articulating changes in systems and working practices to senior team members.
