Montrose LandxSea Film Festival is seeking a Marketing & Communications Coordinator to join their team in the lead-up to their 2nd annual festival in September 2024.

This is a part-time, seasonal contract position from July until the end of September.
About the festival
LandxSea is Scotland’s first environmental film festival, which launched in September 2023. Rooted in the coastal town of Montrose in North East Scotland, our festival presents an annual September weekend filled with ground-breaking climate-focused films, guest speakers, and thought-provoking discussions, along with special events throughout the year. Our focus lies in exploring the complex connections between land and sea, showcasing a diversity of environmental narratives from a multitude of global perspectives. The festival is hosted in the heart of the town at the community-owned Montrose Playhouse, a state-of-the-art multi-screen cinema & arts hub that opened in 2021. Learn more on our website.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated communications professional looking to gain further experience in organising a growing film festival. We are looking for a committed individual with a passion for film and environmental issues, who will coordinate the promotional aspects of the Festival across Montrose, Angus, and broader Scottish audiences.
You will play a central role in expanding our 2024 audience reach and impact, working closely with the Festival Producer to plan and execute the festival’s comprehensive marketing campaign, from written communications to community partnerships to festival collateral.
Responsibilities
- Develop marketing & promotional strategies with the Festival team
- Research films, guests, and other resources relating to 2024 Festival screenings & events
- Create written and visual content for our website, newsletters, box office, print programme, press releases, social media and other channels
- Coordinate promotional lists and outreach
- Coordinate the production schedule for festival collateral (print programme, digital assets)
- Liaise with vendors (publicist, graphic designer, printer)
- Supervise volunteers when necessary
- Keep everything on track – production timelines, databases, follow-ups.
Requirements
- Highly organised and detail-oriented
- Comfortable communicating by phone and email
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Proficient with computers and keeping documents and spreadsheets up to date
- Strong copywriting and editing skills
- Familiar with using social media
- Tech-savvy and able to quickly learn new platforms and software
- A passion for the environment!
Desirable:
- Knowledgeable in communications strategy and marketing campaigns, especially with experience in events or festivals
- Based in Angus, Scotland, or with knowledge of Montrose and Angus communities
- Experience with social media management
- Design skills using tools like Canva
- An interest in the business of film or film festivals

Employment Type: Part-Time Seasonal Contract (Contractor Position)
Compensation: £15/hour
Schedule: Flexible, up to 30/hours per week, with additional hours during the Festival (13-15 September 2024)
Start Date: July 2024
End Date: 27 September 2024
Location: Remote working position, with availability for meetings during agreed work hours. On-site presence required at Montrose Playhouse during the festival.
