Job description

Shooting People is a vibrant independent film community that began in 1998. We have multiple digital channels and provide a variety of different digital services that enable our filmmaker, writer, actor and crew members to find collaborators and get their films made and seen. We run additional initiatives such as New Shoots: regular free live events with established filmmakers throughout the UK, with support from partner sponsors, as well as film and actor competitions.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is highly organised, with a keen interest in writing copy (including our monthly newsletter), to develop our digital marketing plan each quarter, and implement our marketing strategies (alongside our Marketing and Graphics Director). The role will also include taking responsibility for developing new ideas and partnerships, that continue to bring new creatives into the SP community and expand engagement for all.

Key responsibilities
  • Creating and scheduling a quarterly marketing plan, across various online channels and the SP website, that activates new members to join SP and engages our existing community.
  • Managing and growing our filmmaker and actor competitions (and developing our new screenwriters competition)
  • Contributing new ideas for our live events programme (including topics and speakers), and promoting our events to reach new audiences
  • Researching member successes, opportunities, jobs and events that can be shared with the community
  • Writing the monthly newsletter, social media and community posts
  • Working closely with the Partnerships and Events Director to implement partner fulfilments
  • Developing new ideas for film partnerships and outreach that can activate new members to belong to the SP community.
Who you are
  • Connected to the independent film world and knowledgeable about film festivals, opportunities and other film organisations.
  • Highly organised with impeccable attention to detail and likes planning in advance.
  • A strong writer who enjoys writing
  • Passionate about marketing and outreach
  • Strong creative judgement. A creative-thinker willing to look beyond easy answers to find the best solution to any problem and offer new ideas
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Happy to tackle repetitive tasks where these are needed
  • A team player with a can-do attitude and an entrepreneurial mindset
Qualifications
  • Experienced in Marketing and Social media (minimum requirement of 2years +)
  • Regular contributor, or writer of copy (minimum requirement of 2 years+)
  • Excellent understanding of the UK film industry and independent film world.
Location

The role will involve working from home, with the option of some flexible access to a creative co-working space in East London next year. We are willing to consider applications from people based elsewhere in the UK but you would need to come to London for occasional team meetings and events, as and when required.

Working with us means
  • Joining our small friendly creative team and having a lot of input and impact
  • Helping to support filmmakers and being part of growing independent filmmaking in the UK
  • Building and developing your film contacts and marketing knowledge.
