Managing Director

Salary: £45,000 pro rata (20 hours per week)

Approaching its 20th edition in 2023, London Short Film Festival is now seeking a professional Managing Director to take LSFF’s vision and support for short form, inclusivity and dynamic events forward and to deliver their annual festival.

Please note, this is not a programming or curatorial role.

The chosen candidate will be instrumental in bringing strategic ideas and vision to all LSFF activity, bringing these to fruition via funding and partner relationships, whilst leading and inspiring the LSFF team.

Candidates must have proven fundraising capabilities, excellent multi-tasking skills and a love of short and experimental film and a broader interest in art and culture. We support flexible working locations and hours, and welcome applications from groups under-represented in LSFF – particularly those identifying as BAME, LGBTQI+ and disabled.

Key Responsibilities

You will lead and work closely with the core LSFF team to develop and put in place robust planning and processes for LSFF 2023 and beyond. Managing funding relationships and applications, sponsorship proposals, and ongoing strategic planning are key to the role, as is maintaining relationships with venues, supporters and partners.

Day-to-day you will oversee all staff and planning across the entire festival structure, as well as taking responsibility for budgeting and financial management.

Essential

• Experience of writing successful and/or proven funding applications for an arts or cinema organisation, from planning to reporting
• Experience of developing and securing sponsorship deals
• Experience of mentoring and supporting staff and developing a team
• Experience of financial management and budgeting
• Considerable knowledge of and interest in film and culture
• Experience in overseeing the delivery of complex projects
• Commitment to diversity and inclusivity, and ensuring this is considered across projects
• Ability to find proactive, creative solutions to problems
• Able to take accountability and ownership of complex situations
• Previous experience of working within a film or arts festival
• Knowledge of UK & International film exhibition, venues and festivals
• Experience of audience development strategy and execution

Desirable

• Existing film, venue and cultural partner contacts
• Knowledge of and interest in the short film landscape and festivals
