The I’m Migrant Film Festival is looking for pre-selectors to watch films submitted to the festival as they prepare for their 2026 edition.

• Voluntary role
• 5 to 7 hour commitment

Role responsibilities

• We are looking for a few volunteers to act as pre-selectors.
• This requires you to watch between 5-7 hours of films, a mixture of shorts and features, over the month of October 2025.
• After watching each film, we will need you to rate it out of 5 and make a few notes which consider whether it would be suitable for the festival. These will be read by the Festival Curator.

Person specifications

• Someone who enjoys film/film festivals.
• Someone who wishes to gain experience in analysing film/seeing how a festival works behind the scenes.
• We particularly encourage applications from people of the SWANA Region and its diaspora.

About IMFF and Arts Forward

The “I’m Migrant Film Festival” is a month-long programme of screenings and events taking place at Genesis Cinema in the heart of London, UK. After a vibrant first season, IMFF is returning to Genesis Cinema and we are thrilled to launch a new open call for the next festival throughout February 2026.

Curated by Iraqi filmmaker, photographer and writer Yamam Nabeel, the “I’m Migrant Film Festival” brings together both emerging and established filmmakers from across the Arab World, creating a platform for cross-cultural and intergeneration conversation through film.

Screenings span feature presentations and curated programmes of short film, including national and international premieres, with all events accompanied by panels and talks from acclaimed filmmakers, actors and producers. The inaugural festival featured over 40 films from SWANA Region.

Since 2020, Art Forward has produced numerous international projects and exhibitions across UK, Europe and the SWANA Region. Founded by Yamam Nabeel, the Art Forward team devise and produce projects that share global stories and platform voices that may otherwise be silenced, building a dialogue that transcends cultural, religious, and geographical differences.
