About The Regent Cinema
The Regent Cinema is charity community Cinema / Theatre that has been operation in Christchurch, Dorset for 90 years. We are currently recruiting for a Front of House Supervisor to join our team at the Regent Centre. We have the potential for multiple positions for the right candidates.
About the role
Facilities supervision of the building, particularly whilst we are in performance mode. Often working with a group of volunteers, you will take the lead in ensuring the smooth and safe running of the building itself during busy times. You will be responsible for ordering catering stock and supplies into the building and managing their journey from delivery to customer.
Main duties
- To be the delegated Designated Premises Supervisor point of contact for volunteers and building visitors in matters related to safety and licencing, particularly in relation to the bar and general premises security.
- To take the lead in running building evacuations when on duty.
- To have an authoritative working knowledge of the bar, box office and coffee shop.
- Supervising and delivering day to day box office activities including, report generating, managing customer database, postage, customers queries etc.
- Operating our Box Office and Retail areas, using our till system Admit one.
- Supporting volunteers using the box office, café and bar areas.
- To place stock orders, receive deliveries and log them onto our stock management system and undertake stock takes on a regular basis.
- To proactively re stock the bars, ice cream sales points and coffee shop.
- To maintain tills and floats across sales points before and during shows.
- To be responsible for housekeeping whilst working, including emptying bins, maintaining the toilets, general maintenance, auditorium cleaning, catering equipment upkeep and building presentation tasks.
- To take responsibility for keeping Front of House areas clean, tidy and orderly.
- Whilst dealing with public health issues, to lead in mid event cleans of all front of house touch points, toilets and re stocking of soaps, paper towels and hand gels.
- To use PPE where necessary and monitor safeguarding issues where legislated including but not limited to social distancing, use of queue systems, cleaning of work stations and safe delivery of food and beverage services.
- To set up for special events, including the manual handling of furniture.
- To be proactive in ensuring the access needs of all our customers are met to the best standards possible within our building.
- To ensure events run to time by liaising with the technical team and visiting companies, make show calls and to give front of house clearance where appropriate.
- To proactively manage the physical health and safety of staff, customer, volunteers and performers by following the latest guidance on cleaning and infection control.
- To act key holder for the building.
These duties are not exhaustive, and Front of House Supervisors may be required to perform duties not listed, to the reasonable operational requirements of the Regent Christchurch (Ltd).
Person specification
Essential
- Previous experience in a customer care role
- Previous experience in cash handling
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Excellent numeracy skills
- Experience of working flexibly both as part of a team and alone
Desirable
- A first aid certificate
- Personal License Holder
- Digital Cinema Projection Training (but training will be provided)
- Background in a retail environment
- Experience in working behind a bar
- Experience supervising staff or volunteers
- A love or live theatre and / or cinema
- Experience of working with Cinema/ Theatre ticketing and stock software.
Terms
- Hours: Shifts are day times, evenings, and weekends. Flexibility is important.
- Rate of pay: £21,250 per annum based on 40 hour work week. Part Time Roles will be paid pro rata.
- Annual leave: 20 days per annum plus bank holidays which may need to be worked but can be taken at another time.
