Film Pre-Selector (Live Action)

Encounters Film Festival

Salary: £500 fee

Encounters Film Festival is looking for applicants with a proven interest in short film to join the pre-selection panel reviewing submissions to the 2019 international short film competition. The number of submissions we’re receiving is increasing so we’re looking for some fresh eyes to help us select the competition programme for this year!

Pre-selectors will support the Programmer by reviewing the suitability of around 500 live action short films for consideration in the Encounters international competition – a gateway to the Oscars, BAFTAs and European Film Awards.

Encounters is the UK’s leading short film and animation festival, and the international competition provides a platform for emerging filmmaking talent to announce their arrival.
Whether showcasing the best in new and emerging talent, running events, or hiring staff, we take our commitment to fair representation seriously. We’re committed to widening the lens across all our practices, and that means whatever your background, we won’t exclude anyone based on gender, race, ability, sexual orientation, or otherwise. You’ll be welcome here.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrate a proven interest in short film
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Encounters curatorial standards
  • Have a familiarity with past programmes
  • Be organised, able to work alone and have a proven ability to work to deadlines

We would particularly welcome candidates from under represented backgrounds in the film industry.

Start Date: ASAP

To apply, send your CV and a short cover letter detailing your suitability for the role to: info@encounters-festival.org.uk
