Film Conservation Manager

Salary: £46,462 - £54,762

The BFI is looking for a skilled Film Conservation Manager to join their conservation team.

Key Responsibilities

You will have operational leadership and line management of the BFI National Archive’s Conservation teams and projects.

• Responsibility for the technical leadership of restoration, conservation and business projects.
• To represent BFI National Archive Conservation in a range of cultural and industrial contexts.
• Promote and maintain relationships with commercial service providers and relevant professional organisations, including international collections.

Experience & Skills

• Thorough working knowledge of archival and commercial film laboratories, spanning all analogue and digital processes.
• As an expert in your field, you will have demonstrable experience in leading, designing, supervising and delivering multiple major, complex restoration and conservation projects.
• Knowledge of, and evidence of using, project and people management techniques to maintain team productivity and engagement in restoration and conservation projects.

About the BFI & Conservation Team

The role of the Conservation department is primarily to preserve, conserve and restore. Our conservators and specialist technicians help make our collections safe and accessible for future generations. We combine expert knowledge of materials and techniques with outstanding practical skills, all underpinned by experimentation and innovation. We share our expertise with colleagues around the world, benefitting from many collaborations with international institutions. And we wish to pursue more.
