Take One Action are seeking a highly organised individual with a keen eye for detail to support our team in delivering our 2021 Festivals, broadening their reach and maximising their impact.

Role

In this exciting, multi-faceted role, you will support the smooth running and online promotion off all our Festival and COP26 operations, providing essential administrative and logistical support for all aspects of events delivery, incl. ticketing, venue liaison and volunteers coordination as well as supporting content creation and coordination across our social media channels, on our website and among our networks.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will be varied and will include but not be limited to:

Marketing:

  • Support the Executive Director and Festivals Officer to deliver a vibrant, engaging and proactive communications strategy across TOA and key festival partners’ websites and social media channels – with particular regard to nurturing audience understanding of hybrid delivery.
  • Support with uploading events to TOA website, Facebook pages and online screenings platform.
  • Create and disseminate visual content (clips, graphics, gifs etc.) to be shared on social media.
  • Coordinate “guest content” input from volunteers, partners and other relevant contributors.
  • Help increase online engagement across TOA’s social media channels to:
    o catalyse interest in TOA’s activities;
    o support long-term audience development (maximising reach across Scotland);
    o support longer-term audience retention and drive audience cross-development across TOA’s activities;
    o offer positive and longer-lasting engagement opportunities for audiences, partner organisations and volunteers.
  • Actively monitor TOA social media channels, engaging with user comments / questions to catalyse conversations around films and events.
  • Support the creation and dissemination of regular e-newsletters (incl. writing copy).
  • Support TOA’s commitment to access and inclusion by contributing to the creation of accessible marketing materials and methods (ALT text, captions for videos etc.).
  • Support the coordination of volunteers, commissioned bloggers and cross-hosting of content.

Events planning and delivery

  • Provide support for the scheduling, logistics and delivery of screenings and events (coordinating the support/input of partners, volunteers, filmmakers, venues, facilitators, etc.).
  • Coordinate the delivery of all film files across all venues (incl. regional festivals).
  • Compile requests for comp tickets & coordinate collection systems with all venues.
  • Coordinate festival volunteers’ shifts and administer their expenses.
  • General events production support, incl. logistics, ticketing and equipment and audience feedback materials.
  • Act as Event Lead for specific festival screenings and events (acting as main contact for venue, overseeing box office, ticketing and volunteers, welcoming guests…).
  • Assist with compiling audience evaluation and feedback.
  • Any other duties commensurate with this role.
  • Deliver all work in a manner that reflects Take One Action’s values and principles.
Key skills and experience

Essential

  • Experience
    o Previous marketing, promotion or online communications experience (ideally in an arts, festival, campaigning, community engagement or social change environment);
    o Previous office or organisational experience in an events/festivals context.
  • Skills
    o familiarity with WordPress, Mailchimp and CMS;
    o Good photo and video editing skills (mainly Canva / Photoshop or similar);
    o Good general computing skills (incl. Word & Excel / Google Suite);
    o Excellent communication and project administration skills;
    o Ability to juggle competing priorities;
    o Ability to act as a powerful ambassador for the organisation.

Desirable

  • A passion for film and audience engagement, an interest in global issues and a commitment to social change;
  • Local knowledge of Glasgow and Edinburgh;
  • Familiarity with campaigning and cultural networks in Scotland.

Though the role may be fulfilled remotely, local knowledge and contacts are essential. Your physical presence at key events during the festival (22-26 September) will be necessary. Though Take One Action’s staff travel and expenses policy will apply where relevant, we will not be able to cover accommodation or subsistence costs for candidates based outside the Central Belt.
