Volunteer Opportunities for Women Over 50 Film Festival
Women Over 50 Film Festival (WOFFF) champions and showcases the work of older women on screen and behind the camera with an annual short film festival and year-round events and film screenings.
WOFFF addresses the ageism and sexism many women face in the film industry. We screen films celebrating older women on both sides of the camera. We believe inclusive spaces to watch films together and conversations between generations of women can help make older and younger women feel less isolated and more connected.
WOFFF is a volunteer-led and volunteer-run Community Interest Company. We’re a friendly, inclusive bunch and would love you to become part of our community. Everyone is welcome at WOFFF.
WOFFF aims to:
- showcase outstanding work of older women on screen and behind the camera
- create a film community centred around older women
- help combat isolation and loneliness in older women
At WOFFF we are:
age-positive | inclusive | friendly | intersectional | empowering | accessible
Our 2022 festival will feature more amazing short films centring on the lives and work of older women. We’ll be hosting our traditional all-female panel event and WOFFF filmmakers will be taking part in Q&As after each programme of shorts.
This year WOFFF continues as a hybrid festival, with WOFFF22 Online from 9th to 30th September and at Depot, Lewes on Saturday 24th September.
Depot is an award-winning independent 3-screen cinema with bar kitchen; located in the centre of Lewes, East Sussex, within the South Downs National Park, and adjacent to the railway station.
Volunteer roles
We are looking for volunteers with excellent communication skills and a friendly manner to join the WOFFF team. You will help usher guests into the cinema, answer visitor questions, manage guest lists and much more besides. This is an excellent opportunity to gain some experience of film festivals, meet new people and make new friends, as well as see some great films.
Volunteers will be based at Depot in Lewes and will be provided with a free volunteer t-shirt. As a thank you for helping us, we will give you last-minute entry to screenings and our panel event, space permitting. We will provide you with a pre-prepared, delicious, hearty, vegan salad lunch box made by the chefs at Depot for you to eat while you are at Depot. We will reimburse any out-of-pocket expenses for travel to and from Depot up to £10, provided you supply us with your travel receipts.
