Festival Marketing Sales Manager
RAI Film Festival
Remote
Salary: £150 per day
The Royal Anthropological Institute is looking for an experienced Festival Marketing Sales Manager to help them with sales concerning the 18th RAI Film Festival.
About the RAI Film Festival
The festival will run online 3-31 March, and in person in Bristol 22-25 March, and we are specifically looking for a candidate who can take the lead with on-line marketing of the festival, with a view to helping us to achieve sales targets. Specific tasks will include writing film copy, marketing through our social media channels and newsletters, as well as reaching out to target audiences via a variety of channels.
The RAI Film Festival celebrates the best in anthropological documentary filmmaking from around the globe. Established in 1985 by the Royal Anthropological Institute (UK), our festival is the largest of its kind, offering a feast of films and filmmakers that represent all corners of the world. We showcase productions that interrogate our complex, shared world; fearless films that ask difficult questions, build bridges, seek redress and promote social justice and dialogue. We also create a particularly inclusive space at our festival, fostering discovery and learning by reaching a wide audience to engage with people, places and stories that are too often lost in the spotlight of global media, and also by actively encouraging first-time filmmakers as well as guest curators to partake.
About the role
Whilst we do not require a particular background in anthropology, the ideal candidate will be attuned to our mission of delivering an inclusive, diverse and welcoming festival, and will have experience of selling documentary film events.
The position is remote with the option of working from our London offices. The RAI is highly experienced at organising and presenting events. Our festival is curated by the RAI’s film officers Caterina Sartori and Steve Hughes, and supported by staff members the institute, and the RAI’s film committee. During the Covid-19 lockdown, we experimented with an on-line festival for the first time. This is therefore the virtual component’s second iteration, which will continue alongside an element of face-to-face interaction. There are multiple ways of buying passes to the festival, reflecting its dual focus. The successful candidate will work as part of that team in order to make the festival a success by concentrating on the on-line sales side.
