Really Local Group is seeking an Event Manager to develop and implement an exciting event programme for their venues.

Each of our venues is uniquely designed to reflect its locality – we engage with local arts clubs and community groups to facilitate their activities by providing them with a much needed ‘home’.

About the job

As Event Manager at Really Local Group, you will be integral in developing and implementing an exciting event programme for our venues. You will be responsible for leading on all enquiries, co-ordinating our events calendar, which routinely includes in-house events, venue hires, and community led functions.

You will work closely with our Programme & Marketing Manager and in-house management teams on marketing, promotion, and advertising materials. You will lead on our events from inception through to delivery and finally completion. Along with the venue management team, you will oversee in-house events and ensure a positive experience for each of our guests and clients. The chosen candidate will have an eye for detail and be proactive in seeking out new relationships to make each of our venues a thriving and exciting cultural destination for their respective communities.

  • Designated working hours: 40 hours per week, evening and weekend work will be required.

  • Reporting to: Managing Director, as part of the RLG senior team.
Key responsibilities & duties
  • Manage all event enquiries, create and send proposals and provide site visits if and when required.
  • Work with our preferred supplier list to arrange catering, AV, floristry, furniture, staff and event production based on different event requirements.
  • Manage and work within a variety of budgets and ensure events are always profitable.
  • Responsible for creating individual event quotes and P&Ls, invoicing and payment tracking.
  • Drive event bookings to maximise revenue opportunities.
  • Schedule and host event meetings with full operational team.
  • Alongside venue management teams, provide full event management for onsite events.
  • Responsible for inductions and training on Health & Safety for third party suppliers when coming on site.
  • Follow up on client feedback after the event in a timely manner ensuring any negative feedback is effectively handled.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating all internal CRM and event tracking spreadsheets.
Requirements
  • An experienced Event Manager with at least 2+ years’ experience in the arts or cultural sector.
  • Demonstrable track record in achieving sales targets and KPIs.
  • Have excellent telephone skills and a keen eye for detail to ensure contracts and client proposals are accurate.
  • Exceptionally well organised, with the ability to effectively prioritise and multitask, detail-oriented and punctual.
  • A good working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and related PC packages is essential for this role.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, listening, writing).
  • Effective decision-making skills.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • Experience of managing junior team members.
  • Hands on and proactive, leads by example demonstrating self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure, exciting environment.

As well as your main responsibilities you will be expected to carry out any tasks pertaining to the successful operation of the venue as reasonably required.
