Editor - Critical Writing Commissions

The Edinburgh International Film Festival is seeking an Editor for our Critical Writing Commissions project.

Freelance contract, June-September 2023

In 2023, in a special one-year iteration, the 76th Edinburgh International Film Festival will take place as part of the Edinburgh International Festival. EIFF’s compact and curated selection of films will be presented 18-23 August, complementing the EIF’s programme of world-class artistic activity.

Organisationally this edition of EIFF will exist under the auspices of the Edinburgh International Festival with primary funding and support provided by Screen Scotland.

Reporting to the Programme Director, the Editor – Critical Writing Commissions will lead on the artistic delivery of three new publications that will feature writing from these mid-career writers and others. This is an excellent opportunity for an editor who is committed to identifying, championing and collaborating with writing talent, to help creatively develop a suite of publications to be distributed internationally. Acting as both development editor and advisor, the Editor will help the selected participants develop their voice and their understanding of the publishing industry.
