Bohemia Media are looking for a highly-organised, flexible and hard-working Distribution Assistant for the UK cinema release of Rebel Dread.

About the role

Rebel Dread is a documentary film about pioneering DJ, music video director, filmmaker and musician Don Letts, released in cinemas on 4 March.

Bohemia Media is a distribution company that focuses on stories from marginalised groups, including but not limited to, the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, people of colour, female-led groups, GSDR groups etc.

This short term contract would be ideal for a motivated self-starter who is keen to gain experience in the film distribution sector. They will be given valuable insight into multiple aspects of a UK theatrical film release including cinema bookings, a variety of marketing elements and event organisation, as well as opportunities for professional development.

Tasks will include
  • Working with cinemas to provide and monitor marketing assets
  • Assisting with planning for the film’s premiere screening
  • Supporting the marketing team with grassroots and outreach marketing, with a particular focus on engaging young (18-30) audiences
  • Supporting the marketing team with regional marketing and research to support the film’s UK Q&A tour
  • Administrative support for UK Q&A tour events
  • General administrative tasks and ad hoc projects as required
Required
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Good all-round IT skills – especially Google Drive, Docs and Sheets
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to use own initiative, and manage own time effectively
  • Demonstrable problem-solving abilities
  • A desire to work in film distribution or exhibition
  • Knowledge and engagement with the marginalised communities that Bohemia works within
Desirable
  • Knowledge and interest in the film’s subject matter, and how it could be marketed to young audiences

This is a short-term, temporary position for a total of 12 days (96 hours) across the period from 1 February to 4 March at a pay rate of £100 per day.

Bohemia Media are working remotely whilst the ‘work from home’ advice is still in place, with the potential for some in person, office based work for London based applicants if this advice is revised. However being London based isn’t a necessity for the role, and we are flexible on how your working hours will be split, as long as they are between 10am – 6pm.
