Digital Media Specialist

British Film Institute

Berkhamsted

Salary: £24,546 - £28,728

The BFI is seeking a Digital Media Specialist to join the Data & Digital Preservation team on a fixed term basis until March 2022.

We are looking for someone who is able to meet the demands of digital preservation and access for all audio visual media within the BFI National Archive. With experience in technical functions including media management, quality control or digital preservation, you will be able to utilise and advise on these areas to meet agreed standards and deadlines. You will also be able to operate the technical equipment relating to digital preservation and access, and alongside relevant colleagues ensure that digital media is well managed.

You will have a vocational qualification, or equivalent experience gained within professional audio visual technology or moving image archives.  You will also have experience of working with digital media formats or audio visual technologies and equipment, be able to recognise and diagnose technical problems, and understand the potential issues and challenges of digital preservation.

The BFI recognises that now more than ever there is the need for more tangible actions to be taken in response to racial inequality. We are therefore looking at how we can better serve Black and Minority Ethnic people given a lack of diversity which is damaging to film culture.

We therefore strongly encourage applications from individuals who identify as BAME and/or disabled. Our guaranteed interview scheme ensures that BAME and/or Disabled applicants who can demonstrate that they meet the minimum criteria for the role will be invited to interview.

This position will be based at least 3 days a week on site at Berkhamsted with the opportunity to work the remaining 2 days remotely. During the current Covid-19 pandemic this is negotiable.

You will enjoy benefits such as our pension scheme, excellent support for working parents, 28-33 days annual leave, tickets to BFI festivals and events plus many others.

Further details about the post can be obtained by visiting: http://www.bfi.org.uk/about-bfi/job-opportunities
