One World Media is recruiting for an experienced and passionate Digital Communications Manager to lead their
strategy and delivery of communications.

About the role

This is an exciting and varied role, responsible for leading our ambitious communications strategy; implementing creative and engaging content and communications campaigns; managing all website, newsletter and social media channels; and building One World Media’s international community of journalists and filmmakers.

We are looking for someone who can bring their energy and enthusiasm to this role to help us grow One World Media’s global reach and impact, and build on the successes of the past few years.

About us

One World Media is a non-profit organisation committed to supporting journalists and filmmakers globally to tell stories that inform and connect us all. For over 30 years, we have supported journalists and filmmakers working in the field, day-to-day to bring us important and influential stories from and about the global south. We believe we can make a difference by celebrating, connecting and championing their work. Our major activities include the One World Media Awards, Fellowship, the Global Short Docs Forum, and a year-round series of international reporting events and workshops.

In this role you will:
  • Lead One World Media’s communications strategy in association with the director.
  • Work with the team to develop and implement effective, creative and engaging content and
    communications campaigns around One World Media’s programmes.
  • Monitor, maintain and build the One World Media online community.
  • Produce the One World Media websites, event pages, social media channels and
    newsletters.
  • Manage One World Media’s comms calendar and asset library, and generate ideas for new
    content and formats.
  • Design and produce print and digital collateral for One World Media’s programmes.
  • Produce public relations materials in relation to One World Media programmes.
  • Provide copywriting and proofing support for the wider team as necessary.
  • Represent One World Media to external partners.
  • Carry out basic filming, photography and video editing for digital use.
  • Support One World Media’s online and in-person events
We’re looking for someone with…

1) Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 3 years of communications and social media experience with a non-profit, media
    or film festival background
  • Demonstrable experience in generating compelling written and visual content
  • Experience in WordPress website management
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with key partners, communities and
    stakeholders of an organisation
  • Experience using and reporting from social media and audience analytics tools
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and manage numerous projects in a timely manner and deal
    effectively with changing requirements
  • Ability to think creatively and produce new ideas
  • Be a team player comfortable working within a small team and also independently
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for documentary filmmaking and international journalism

2) Desirable Criteria

  • Photography, filming and editing skillsets
  • Interest in media, news, international development or current affairs
  • Experience in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and PremierePro
  • Experience supporting digital and online events
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector
  • Knowledge of managing paid digital marketing campaigns
  • Knowledge of public relations and working with journalists
