Leeds Film is looking for a Development and Communications Officer to join their team.
About Leeds Film
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Leeds Film team and work on Leeds International Film Festival and year-round programmes and projects. Leeds Film is part of Arts, Events & Venues at Leeds City Council which also organises Light Night, Leeds International Concert Season and Leeds International Beer Festival, operates Leeds Town Hall, Carriageworks and Millennium Square, and runs major city services like Breeze and Leeds Ticket Hub.
Supported by the British Film Institute, Leeds Film organises:
- Leeds International Film Festival (LIFF) in November;
- Leeds Young Film Festival (LYFF) in March/April;
- Independent Directions Film Festival (The INDIs) in February;
- LIFF Presents – year-round previews of new films in Leeds city centre;
- LIFF Supports – year-round sector support for film culture in Leeds and the region;
- Leeds Film Player, the streaming platform for the festivals and the year-round programme LIFF Select;
- INDIs Movie Nights – year-round screenings of films for young audiences at Carriageworks;
- the INDIs Network and Young Programmers Group;
- the film strand of the multi-arts Burberry Inspire project for young people.
About the Role
The post coordinates and delivers audience development and communications for LIFF and year-round activities presented or supported by LIFF, with a focus on new, young and diverse audiences. Responsibilities include devising and implementing the audience development plan, developing marketing partnerships, creating and delivering marketing campaigns, and coordinating online content and engagement. We are looking for candidates with experience of developing audiences in the film or other arts sector and creating a wide range of marketing activities, excellent communication and organisational skills, and a very strong interest in exploring and supporting film culture.
The post is on a full-time contract initially until 31 March 2023 and continuation is subject to external funding. Leeds Film is temporarily based at Carriageworks (alongside home-working) while its usual base Leeds Town Hall is being redeveloped.
