About this role

BFI launched our ten-year strategy – Screen Culture 2033 – which sets out how we will advance our knowledge, collections, programmes, National Lottery funding and leadership to build a diverse UK screen culture that benefits all of society.

Digital access to BFI programmes – and our digital revenues – are critical to help us realise our vision. The potential to deliver more of our work digitally presents us with a huge and transformative cultural opportunity.

The digital ambition is that by 2033, we will have radically reformed all BFI services by making them easy to use and widely available online, reaching more people and delivering more of our cultural programme digitally.

This role will help us to consolidate our processes in content design, and give on-going support to colleagues within the Digital team and across the organisation to apply the discipline consistently and help demonstrate its value. You will collaborate widely to improve the content that helps customers to use our products and services.

  • Translate user needs into exceptionally clear, informative and engaging content.
  • Champion inclusion as a principle of content design.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring in content design methodologies to colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, write and edit content for BFI digital platforms, including (but not limited to) http://www.bfi.org.uk.
  • Document emerging user needs and content-specific user stories.
  • Lead collaborative content design workshops with internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to user research sessions, questioning and validating content design decisions.
  • Document content design decisions, helping to develop a style guide and content design system.
  • Continually cultivate a better understanding of BFI services and their users, to inform analysis and decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary digital team and with colleagues across the organisation.

Additionally:

  • Be an ambassador for the BFI and maintain a professional approach at all times
  • Create and maintain good working relationships with all BFI colleagues
  • To promote and support diversity and inclusion in all activities
  • To be aware of and act in accordance with the BFI’s environmental sustainability plans and approach at all times
