Showroom Workstation is seeking a new Conference and Events Sales Manager to help drive business forward in our multi-faceted conference and event space.
They are looking for an experienced professional with the drive and determination to maintain and maximise existing accounts, whilst enhancing the client portfolio through proactive calling and networking, to ensure targets and revenue are achieved.

Role responsibilities:
- To achieve the budgeted sales and profitability for the conference department including room hire, and wet and dry sales.
- Manage and track associated income and expenditure.
- Work closely with the Head of Managed Workspace and Facilities, Marketing, and other Departments to create corporate strategies and plans for enhancing the overall event sales.
- Develop conference and event activities in the building to engage with new clients and expand our existing network of contacts including organising and hosting our monthly breakfast networking event alongside the Head of Managed Workspace and Facilities.
- Creating own networks and proactively identifying and attending suitable networking events
- Be proactive in generating sales initiatives, following new leads, and using company databases or networks to garner new clients.
- Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of the availability and costs of facilities, and functions space within Sheffield and the city region.
- Prepare reports as required and carry out all administrative tasks, associated with quotations, enquiries, and bookings in a timely and accurate manner.
- Deliver presentations and tours to potential clients as appropriate to market and sell the facilities of the company.
- Work with the Head of Managed Workspace and Facilities and Marketing team to develop a conference sales marketing strategy using a variety of approaches including, mail outs, social media activity and editorial.
- Responsibility for ensuring information uploaded to Clarity (our booking software) is correct for all events, as this information is utilised by many departments to ensure the smooth running of events.
- Responsibility for all conference and event invoicing and contracts including larger festivals such as Docfest.
- Working closely with the Finance team on credit control for conference and events clients.
- First point of contact for all larger building-wide festivals such as SHAFF, CMC and Docfest.
- Close working relationship with the operational delivery team including the kitchen team.
- Liaise with key staff in the organisation to ensure the smooth running and delivery of the operation. This includes but is not limited to; arranging technical requirements, meeting clients on arrival, dealing with queries, and relaying accurate information to all relevant staff.
- To react to any variance in sales by assessing the sales and marketing plan and implementing strategies to stimulate sales growth.
- Manage and develop conference and events sales coordinator and any other events team members and placements.
- To work with other managers within the Operations department to monitor, manage and develop wider team members in building sales and achieving growth.
- As both a manager and a colleague ensure compliance with the company’s equal opportunities policy and practice.
Person specification:
- Must have previous experience in Sales and Corporate Events/Conferences
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- The determination and motivation to meet challenging targets.
- Proven experience with developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with clients and key accounts in a corporate sales environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to respond to all enquiries in a timely manner.
- Must be target driven to achieve consistent results and be able to sell services to clients.
- Commercial awareness and strategic approach.
- Good presentational and communication skills applicable internally and externally, with the ability to articulate clearly.
- IT skills – including Microsoft packages and functions.
- The confidence and ability to negotiate prices with clients.
