Film London is looking for a Communications & Events Coordinator to join their busy Communications Team.

The Communications & Events Coordinator is a key role in our busy Communications team, working to deliver high-quality events and communications, and contributing to the delivery of Film London’s communications and public affairs strategy, and the organisation’s reputation with external audiences. The postholder will work effectively and flexibly to promote the work of Film London and champion the capital’s screen industries.

As well as supporting Film London, this role will include occasionally supporting Film London’s national division, the British Film Commission, as well as Games London.

This role will report to the Head of PR & Marketing, who in turn reports to the Head of Communications & Public Affairs.

Key responsibilities

Events

  • To input into the development, and co-ordinate the successful planning and delivery of Film London events. This includes sourcing venues, managing contracts and developing partnerships in order to leverage best value.
  • Working with the Head of Communications and Head of PR & Marketing to plan events at markets and festivals, including Cannes and Berlin International Film Festivals.
  • To manage and co-ordinate Film London’s events calendar and be responsible for working across teams to source latest information, keep the calendar up to date and liaise as appropriate to ensure that activity is coordinated and avoids overlaps
  • Working with the Head of Communications & Public Affairs to manage guest lists and coordinate attendance at Opening, Closing and Mayoral Gala screenings, receptions and events during the BFI London Film Festival.
  • With other relevant Film London teams, build targeted invite lists for various events to ensure opportunities with existing or potential stakeholders are maximised.

Communications

  • Working with the Head of Communications & Public Affairs and Head of PR & Marketing and wider team to deliver an internal communications strategy, with a particular focus on Film London’s diversity and inclusion approach
  • Develop external communications campaigns, including drafting key messages and website copy
  • Support the Head of Communications and Public Affairs in drafting stakeholder briefings and presentations for the CEO for external and internal audiences
  • With the wider Communications Team, feed into the development of communications activity to support the key campaigns outlined in the Film London Communications Strategy

Internal Communications

  • Support the Head of Communications in developing an internal communications plan
  • Share press releases and news with internal audience via Workplace
  • Work with the communications team to coordinate and create content to spotlight the work of each Film London team internally, on a rota basis

General

  • Champion the inclusion of Film London’s core values including diversity, inclusion and environmental sustainability, to be included and reflected in our communications work
  • Support the Communications Team in the wider rollout of an internal communications strategy, with a particular focus on diversity & inclusion
  • To operate at all times within the agency’s Equal Opportunities Policy, Diversity Plan and Code of Conduct
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably expected

Experience and personal qualities

Essential:

  • Experience within a busy communications team, preferably in a film or media-related environment
  • Experience of all aspects of event management
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Strong communicator
  • Excellent verbal and written English and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • A keen interest in film and TV
  • An understanding of the differing needs of stakeholders and the ability to adapt work accordingly
  • The ability to understand, interpret and present information in a clear and persuasive way for a wide range of audiences
  • The ability to multitask, prioritise and work across a range of different projects ensuring timescales and deliverables are met
  • Thorough, well-organised and with an eye for detail, ensuring work is delivered to a consistently high standard
  • Team player

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the film and media industries
  • Knowledge of London
