Chair and Trustees

Salary: Unpaid

Tyneside Cinema is seeking new Trustees and a new Chair of the Board.

Trustees are responsible for Tyneside Cinema’s performance and culture, and for ensuring that it complies with all legal and regulatory requirements. We are looking for new Trustees, and a new Chair of the Board, to join us and bring experience and new ideas to support us in our mission. The Board will work in consultation with staff, volunteers and beneficiaries to lead on our values, vision and strategic direction.

We are very keen to work towards a more diverse Board of Trustees. We particularly welcome applications from people with experience that is currently underrepresented on the Board: this means we are eager to receive applications from Black, Asian and minority groups, and those from different socio-economic backgrounds, as well as those living with disabilities, and those from the LGBTQIA+ community. We welcome applications with unconventional work experience, from both experienced non-executives and people who have not been Trustees before.

We want to ensure that the role is available to those living outside of the North East of England (but within the UK) and we will support travel expenses.

We are looking for up to five new Trustees, including a new Chair, and we are particularly looking to appoint people who have skills and experience in the following areas:

• Film and cinema
• Arts, culture and cultural venues
• Hospitality
• Creative and learning
• Financial management
• Fundraising
