The Queen’s Film Theatre (QFT), situated on University Square, is a unique cultural venue with almost 50 years of experience of bringing a high quality film experience to Belfast audiences. It has been Northern Ireland’s leading independent cinema since 1968 and 70% of the programme is unique and cannot be seen in any other NI cinema.
QFT’s vision is to be a leading centre for film excellence and creativity that inspires, informs and entertains. The QFT’s mission is to provide a unique cinema experience and widen access to the best of film from around the world through a programme that actively encourages appreciation, enjoyment, debate and understanding.
Annually, the venue screens around 450 films to 100,000 people in two fully licensed cinema screens. Films shown range from classics, independent and the best contemporary films to documentaries, short films and animation, with an international focus and a diverse programme of films from around the world. QFT operates out of the Drama and Film Centre at Queen’s which also houses the Brian Friel Theatre.
Film Hub NI, an audience development project funded by the British Film Institute and hosted by QFT at Queen’s University Belfast, wish to employ a Project Assistant (part-time) to support the Hub in the delivery of the BFI 2022 strategic plan.
Film Hub NI are one of eight Hubs across the UK that make up the Film Audience Network, delivering more independent film to more audiences in more places. QFT will host the project from 2018-2022.
This part time, 7.4 hour per week, post is available until 31 March 2022, the successful candidate will report to and working closely with the Hub Marketing and Audiences Officer, The post holder will assist with day-to-day liaison with the Film Hub NI membership, partners and other stakeholders. They will assist in the provision of a comprehensive clerical and marketing support to the Film Hub within QFT.
The successful candidate must have:
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent) to include English Language and Mathematics or NVQ Level 2 Administration (or equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience working for or in a cinema, arts venue, cultural organisation or related business providing a marketing, administrative or production support role.
- Assisting in the delivery of arts or film events and special functions.
- Experience of accurate customer/client data capture and maintenance on a software system.
- Experience of cinema or arts marketing including direct marketing, and website content.
- Experience using a wide range of IT systems including databases, excel, e-mail and internet.
Salary scale: £17,326 – £20,411 per annum pro rata (potential to progress to £21,585 per annum pro rata through sustained exceptional contribution)
