The Gallic cousin to William Friedkin’s The French Connection, Cédric Jimenez’s epic police drama focuses in on the desperate attempt to capture “la French”, the head of the smuggling operation working out of Marseilles.

The Artist‘s Jean Dujardin stars as Michel, a newly promoted magistrate whose prior connections to low level dealers may offer the opportunity to finally pin a charge on “la French”. But the slow progress of the investigation as well as corrupt officials blocking his advance cause Michel to act outside of the law.

Blending period details with modern touches, including a terrific soundtrack, The Connection is a thrilling, stunning drama and offers dual insight into both the police investigation and the infighting that dogged ‘la French’s organisation. Superb cinematography and a stellar cast add to the film’s many strengths.

The Connection will be available for non-theatrical DVD and blu-ray bookings from Cinema For All on an early window this summer.
