Events

Read about our events and training opportunities for filmmakers in the South East.

Due to the current coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis we are not running any face-to-face events in March, April and May.

As part of our BFI NETWORK activities, we hold regular events in locations throughout the South East to identify, support and develop new talent.

BFI NETWORK South East Talent Meet-ups

Whether you’re a first-time filmmaker, animator, writer or producer, our South East Talent Meet Ups are a chance to meet each other, chat and share ideas.

We host these informal meet ups regularly to help build and support local filmmaking communities, and also to encourage you to collaborate and develop ideas for the two recently announced BFI NETWORK funding strands.

These meet ups will feature invited guest speakers and industry professionals and are led by Tom Wightman, our Talent Executive, who can explain more about the funding opportunities available.

NETWORK Project Labs

Emerging filmmakers in the South East are invited to apply to our Project Labs, which offer participants focused, expert-led support in particular areas of film development including scriptwriting (the theme of our first Project Labs in autumn 2018), production and directing. All labs will feature expert speakers and support from Tom Wightman, our Talent Executive.

Project Labs are free. Applicants must be over 18, not in full time education and based in the South East of England.
