Alan Alderson-Smith (Programmer, Pheonix Arts)
Alan Alderson-Smith joined Phoenix Arts around the turn of the century (20th to 21st!) having worked in both the commercial and independent exhibition sectors at various venues since the mid-1980s. Alan has written and produced a number of short TV films and has often burnt his fingers trying to distribute the occasional movie. Originally from Lancashire, Alan has lived and worked mainly in London and the East Midlands. Normally in despair at the way non-mainstream cinema is publically supported, he nevertheless sees cultural programming as more neccesary than ever. Married with two daughters, Alan's favourite hobby is making the perfect cocktail.
