Sustainable Development & Business Planning For Film Festivals

Venue: Northern Film & Media meeting room, Central Square, Newcastle

Date: Thursday 15th June, 2006

Do you struggle to maintain momentum and secure funding for your Festival’s activity from year to year? Are you striving to create an impact on the regional and national scale which would mark your festival out as different to all the other festivals out there? And who should you be approaching to build the long-term partnerships which will ensure your festival’s future development?

The Independent Cinema Office presents an essential one-day training course for film and audio-visual festivals in the North East who are aiming to secure and maximise their festival’s future development whilst working with limited staff and resources. You will learn foolproof strategies first-hand from festival directors, producers and other recognised experts, who have years of experience in the field of festival management and development.

The course will cover the following areas:

  • How to identify the critical issues facing your festival in the short, medium and long-term
  • The ‘dos and don’ts’ of successful festival planning
  • How to plan and manage your activity year-round
  • How to recognise and communicate your festival’s USP
  • How to identify and create successful partnerships to underpin your festival’s development
  • How to evaluate the impact of your festival and how to articulate this to a range of beneficiaries
