The course is for programming, marketing and education staff of:
- Cinemas, film festivals and film societies who want to start or develop a programme of artists' film
- Cross arts venues and organisations who want to integrate their cinema and gallery more comprehensively
- Galleries and museums interested in forging links with cinemas
- Independent curators working with film and video.
The course offers an accessible and practical introduction to:
- A brief history of artists' moving image: exhibition and practice
- Curating: Key approaches and techniques for presenting work
- Audiences: Effective and creative approaches to audience development
- Marketing: Overcoming barriers to audience interest and creating successful promotional materials
- Case studies of successful projects
- Key organisations and potential partners
- Networking opportunities.

Bursaries:
Five bursaries of up to £75 towards travel and accommodation costs will be on offer to participants living at least 50 miles from the course venue. Priority will be given to applicants working for not-for-profit cinemas, film festivals or cross arts venues, freelance curators, and organisations with an annual turnover of £200,000 or less. To apply, please complete a bursary form and submit it with your registration. The first round of bursary applications will be assessed on Friday 14 January 2011, although we may accept applications after this date if unallocated bursaries remain (please get in touch to check). Travel and accommodation:
The nearest train station to Tate Liverpool is James Street Station (approx. 720 metres, a 10 minute walk). Mainline rail tickets to Liverpool Lime Street Station are valid for travel to James Street Station. If you are travelling by bus, Liverpool ONE Bus Station on Canning Street is directly opposite the Albert Dock, approximately 365 metres from Tate Liverpool. Route C4 also stops at the Albert Dock. If you are travelling by car, follow the brown signs to Albert Dock. You can park in the multi-storey car park at Kings Dock or in Q-Park Strand Street, which has 2000 underground spaces. Access:
Tate Liverpool is located in the Albert Dock complex, which includes period features such as cobbles and paving. There are no steep gradients on approaches to the Tate. The main revolving doors are operated manually, the two side doors open automatically and are push pad operated. The training room is on the ground floor and there is an adapted toilet on the ground floor nearby. Limited pay and display accessible car parking is available inside the Albert Dock Gates near The Pumphouse public house (100m distance) or outside the Britannia Pavilion (100m distance). There is also a substantial number of charged for blue badge parking bays on the ground floor of the adjacent Echo Arena multi-storey car park (300m distance).
