“Have fun, and don't let anyone make you feel like you don't deserve your place within the industry”.

“This is the best experience for anyone who is new and keen to get into this industry, which is an extremely competitive one. You meet industry experts through the monthly industry training sessions and receive consistent support from the ICO during and after your placement. I definitely recommend this scheme for budding film enthusiasts who are interested in the industry but do not know which direction to take”.

“Keep an open mind and be willing to get stuck into all aspects that the placement offers”.

“Don't be concerned that you don't have the appropriate skills and experience because the scheme is especially for newly experienced graduates”.

When asked what the best thing about their placement was, some comments from trainees were:

“The best thing about the placement was getting such a great overview of the film industry from the ICO and from all the speakers. In relation to my placement, it was a great opportunity to have the creative freedom to experiment and to have an input into the alternative programming schedule”.

“Having the freedom and creative input in the film programming and learning valuable skills”

“The ability to get involved in different aspects of programming, providing the ground work to develop a career in programming”

100% said they felt committed to working in the film exhibition industry after completing the scheme.

When asked to sum up their FEDS experience in one sentence, trainees said:

“An exciting, life changing experience that's taught me a lot and given me a great start in the film industry”.

“A brilliant, fresh, overwhelming, informative and successful experience that has left me feeling competent, confident and more knowledgeable about the industry”.

“An adventure led by a sophisticated, innovative, knowledgeable and supportive ICO team".

“An enjoyable and insightful experience”.

“A massive learning curve but an essential one”.

"Broadening horizons and seeing the world differently is - or ought to be - in the remit of film. Which makes ICO culturally significant and to be applauded."
