The second iteration of our Film Exhibition, Distribution and Sales Traineeship scheme (FEDS) began in March and will run til November 2016.
We recruited 17 ambitious trainees
from across the UK for a 9 month paid traineeship in a high-profile film
company. We prioritised applications from Black, Asian and Minority
Ethnic (BAME) people and those who consider themselves to be disabled, which are underrepresented groups in the film industry.
This scheme is delivered under section 37 of the Race Relations Act.
While FDA work directly with the Sales and Distribution trainees, ICO recruited, placed and are training the following 5 exhibition trainees:- Elizabeth Chege based at Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival, Bristol
- Krushil Patel based at Glasgow Film, Glasgow
- Naomi Rathod based at Film Africa Festival, London
- Rebekah Taylor based at Errol Flynn Filmhouse, Northampton
- Yasmeen Ismail based at Genesis Cinema, London
Trainees will undertake an office-based placement in a film distribution, independent exhibition or international sales company. As well as gaining hands-on experience of working in the film industry, the trainee placements will be enhanced with regular industry insider training to provide the trainees with a comprehensive overview of the industry.Check out the video we made about the scheme with FEDS 2015 graduates!
This scheme is delivered in partnership with the Film Distributors' Association (FDA) and Film Export UK. It has been funded by the Creative Skillset Film Skills Fund as part of ‘A Bigger Future 2’, the UK film skills strategy. The Creative Skillset Film Skills Fund is supported by the National Lottery through the BFI and the film industry through the Skills Investment Fund.Photo credit: George Torode
