THE JAPAN FOUNDATION PRESENTS... BRINGING PICTURES TO LIFE: JAPANESE ANIMATION AND THE WORLD OF KOJI YAMAMURA
16 October from 6:30pm
The Japan Foundation, 10-12 Russell Square, London, WC1B 5EH
Trees grow out of heads, birds dream of fruit. Koji Yamamura and his strange world will come to the Japan Foundation. Yamamura, one of Japan's most sought-after animators, creates work using a variety of media that has fascinated the world with its surrealism and sheer visual pleasure.
Through a conversation with Jayne Pilling, founder and Director of the British Animation Awards, and a short and illustrated talk by Helen McCarthy, co-author of The Anime Encyclopedia, the seminar will explore the world of Koji Yamamura and examine his position in the industry while also touching upon other issues surrounding Japanese animation.
This event is free but booking is essential.
