“SHORT FILM SUMMER SCHOOL” BEGINS
The second action-packed SFSS runs from the 12th-15th July at the Curzon cinema on Shaftesbury Avenue. Short films are a critical starting point for filmmakers (Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, and Andrea Arnold are prime examples) and the industry, providing a chance to show off to producers.
These four days are crammed from morning to evening with classes on every aspect of short film-making: casting, funding, ideas, directing, animation, camera-work, editing, pitching, sound, and format – with the focus on HD. A couple of events are for children, but most are for anyone keen to get stuck in. On top of the classes there are demonstrations of what can be done with low budget film: screenings of acclaimed short films by award winners, experiments in noise, a VJ, and final party.
