Synopsis
Simeon is thirteen, a silent loner growing up in poverty in redneck South Africa. He is comfortable only when alone: the forest is his domain. But when he catches sight of Marianna, a raucous, sexually experienced girl of 19, he becomes entranced. He begins to follow her everywhere, drawn out of his woodland paradise into the harsh knockabout city world of teenage society. Mocked by Marianna and her friends, he still can't stop himself. Will curiosity kill the cat? When he is caught peeping by Marianna's boyfriend, all hell breaks loose and Simeon undergoes a sexual awakening that is more than he can handle. A lyrical, imagistic and sometimes brutal coming-of-age story which reimagines archetypes of Adam and Eve, and documents a rarely-seen setting.
