Director biography
Alnoor Dewshi studied Mathematics & Philosophy at Bristol University, gaining a first class degree.
He has a track record of innovative short films: Latifah and Himli's Nomadic Uncle (funded by the Arts Council) won the Dick Award in 1993 and has been purchased by broadcasters and galleries around the world.
Anton & Minty (made for the British Film Institute/Channel 4) has been widely screened and featured in the ICA 's British New Wave show in 1995. 100 copies of Jomeo&Ruliet were given away from a barrow in Hoxton Market (as part of a public arts project devised by Muf Architecture/Art). It won the Fox Searchlight prize for Best Short Film at Edinburgh International Film Festival and the Short Circuit prize at Bristol 's Brief Encounters in 2000, resulting in its cinema release alongside a feature. MknKi (commissioned for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital of Birmingham's ground breaking art programme) screened at the London Film Festival in 2000. SHUSH is a one minute film made for Dazed&Confused Magazine/FilmFour. It can be seen at www.stopforaminute.com. BekkyykkeB and Do you Love me? are two experimental short films made for the Arts Council of England/LFVDA 's national touring programme. War4All, Faithhopper and LoveItchy are short interventions, all made for the Sci-Fi Channel's Unthinkable programme. Spiritual Rampage is a short fiction film that received a special commendation at the Edinburgh Film Festival this year. 77 Beds was made for Carlton TV, premiering at the London Film Festival.
Alnoor has written a feature script called Ark and is developing several others. He lives and works in London.
