Directed by Ann Turner, whose debut Celia caused such a stir in 1988, Irresistible is a compelling thriller exploring the psychology of paranoia. The film stars Susan Sarandon and Sam Neil as a married couple. Sophie Hart (Sarandon) is convinced that her happy life is under threat from her husband's beautiful colleague (Emily Blunt), who she believes to be a crazed stalker trying to destroy her marriage and family. No-one believes Sophie, forcing her to prove her sanity and justify her obsession. The cast is superb in a film that balances on a knife-edge between dramatic action and subtle emotion.
